  and the general tenor of comments was quite negative. As for me, I saw this twice when it was in the theaters and found it quirky, thought-provoking and somewhat brilliant. I guess it all depends what side of the fence you are on regarding the many monologues- are they sophomoric pseudo-philosophy or do they deal with important topics in an interesting way? My view is the latter. I will surely get this on DVD.

  a talky film rests on the cleverness/wisdom/interest of the "raps." In this case, compared to "Slacker," for instance, the dialogue was trite, contrived, and almost self-consciously cute. (Don't take any of this personally, please...)
