Just wanted to mention Limbo(Sayles) and The Winslow Boy(Mamet), two small films that might get overlooked. Good stories, good performances, well-crafted movies from two directors who always seem to come through for me. Not for the movie-goer who wants to see things get blowed up.
Is Limbo still at the theaters? Haven't seen it advertised around here. Last Sayles movie I saw was Lone Star. The guy just gets better.
I saw it on video. I don't remember it being advertised either. Lone Star was a good one, for sure. A couple more good ones from Sayles are The Secret of Roan Inish and Matewan.
Ears.....thanks for the tip on Limbo. An excellent flick. What surprised me most was M.E.M.'s ( I'm not about to try and spell her mame)singing. Fabulous!
Her singing surprised me, too. It was good enough to cause me to wonder if it was dubbed. Nope, no dub, it's really M.E.M. singing.
Sales film "Limbo" was very good. Personally, I loved "Men With Guns" and "Lone Star." Regarding "The Winslow Boy"....I thought it only ok. I really did like "The Spanish Prisoner" though.Doug Schneider
