A gentle film, some shoots may look a little outdated in remaining sticky to the 70´s, you know the colours... the hues..The clothings.....The little zooming...
Sica is a kind of an Italian Bergman.
The story look like coming from the neo realism out of the late 40´s or early 50´s.
Every part is played to perfection.
I did not have one second of boredom.
A film I cherish.
Follow Ups:
I'm curious about that one.
You don't even have to ask - of course he had... it is one of those a,b,c's of good movies. What specifically are curious about? The film is among the very few best movies of all times... tons of books are written on it... a classic that shall remain classic... a Boticelli Venus, if you will.
I probably saw it soon after it came out - the Italian Neo movies were always shown in the USSR as they portrayed the difficult life of the workers in the capitalist society. I have seen it many times since then, and every time still is an event.
I'm not much of a movie buff so I wanted to know if this movie was worth the time spent. I see that you two think so, and that is enough for me.
nt
But there many of them on ebay, and some go for pretty low prices - a great investment, I'd say...
Sometimes too hard to cop for me. But ONE viewing along will reach for life time...The others are only for a reminding...
You are right... this is one of the films that almost tortures you.But every human being must go through some of that torture in order to understand life. Few of us had the misfortune of the movie hero, but millions of us grew emotionally while watching things like the Thief, or La Strada.
Yes ..humilation in front of your own children...is terrible!
Of course!
Of course ( pas d´offence..) It is one of the best film in the world.
The problem it is so..how could I say..so cruel..but in a way as only " fathers " will feel that way ...I was not able to see it more than a few times...
YOU MUST see it.
