I watched several of her films over the past week or so:Cold Comfort Farm--Didn't like that one as much as I expected to. Mildly amusing in spots but just didn't mesh with my sense of humor. Wish Ian McKellen would have had a larger role because he did make me laugh.
Shooting Fish--I liked this comedy. The sort of plot you just have to accept and go along for the ride with if you're going to enjoy the film.
Brokedown Palace--Troubles in Thailand. Not great but interesting enough for me to hang in for the duration. Co-stars Claire Danes, and Bill Pullman's(underrated actor, IMHO) performance is good.
Serendipity--Romantic comedy co-starring John Cusack. I have to be in the mood for this kind of thing, and I was. Didn't hurt that Kate is getting prettier as she adds a few years.
Underworld--Got bad reviews but I thought it was a pretty good action film. I thought Beckinsale was odd casting going in, but she convinced me quickly enough. Didn't hurt that even undead Kate is getting prettier as she adds a few years.
Some people might find her acting bland, but she just seems low-key to me.
Follow Ups:
I am completely infatuated with this woman. Needed to get that off my chest :P
But all this of course is just the matter of taste.
I was to lazy to...Bravo Victor, for your courage..But...
and I thought she looked her worst in "Pearl Harbor"IMO, she looked the best in "The Last Days of Disco." Kate in thin, slinky disco attire with lighter hair. When I first saw this film, I could not believe my eyes she looked so fabulous.
If you see some of her British TV stuff, you will see some good actual acting as well...
A classic beauty.Just saw Cold Comfort Farm for the second time only a week ago. Cute ensemble movie, if a bit too droll. KB seemed a bit tight and stiff in this.
She looked great in Pearl Harbor. The screen glowed when she was on it. Too bad her leading men were 2 of the worst actors working today. Awful gratuitous glorification of war, thew worst kind of Hollywood pap, she was the movie's only saving grace.
I liked Serendipity too. Total girly fantasy flick, but I thoroughly enjoyed the weird secondary characters, especially the Yanni knock-off had me roaring. KB was terriffic in this. I was surprised to note that this was the same actress in the other 2 movies. Many reviewers thought that Cusak was slumming in this and while he maybe was miscast, I enjoyed him in it as a kind of off shoot of the character he built for "High Fidelity". Lots of comparisons to "Sleepless in Seattle" and "An Affair to remember", but this is much better, not as maudlin.
I like Kate B's looks and think she's a decent actress, I look forward to seeing more of her.
She is such a classic beauty that it doesn't matter. I couldn't have picked a better actress to portray the ideal looks of the 40's in Pearl Harbor. She has that pristine, virginal air about her . . woof.
who cares about her acting, she was en fuego in UWI.
