In Reply to: Hey, Patrick! LoTR/RoTK gets 11 Academy Award nominations; WINS best film & director at Golden Globes (foreign press). posted by Audiophilander on January 27, 2004 at 07:07:52:
She undertook to watch it while I was asleep. The next morning she was upset about spending all that time on garbage - her words. So I am afraid on this one she sides with Patrick.
I am sure you know the director is now remaking the King Kong... talk about shrrinking the public brains.
Follow Ups:
...Kong either deserved permanent burial or a fresh resurrection from a talented director; apparently the studios chose the latter.I will say nothing of your wife's tastes. You already know how I feel about criticizing the opinions of a spouse, especially since the corroborating views being shared are second hand. OTOH, she deserves much praise for putting up with a curmudgeonly Russian ex-patriot with an apparent Napoleon complex (-my words). Patrick's opinions, however, are fair game.

His filmmaker's credentials are above reproach. BTW, if you haven't seen Heavenly Creatures yet, I'd recommend renting it!
Watch this film and you will be left in no doubt what has springboarded both Kate Winslett and Peter Jackson into the Hollywood orbit; its a startling and original piece of cinema
His early films like Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, were made on the slimmest shoe-string budgets and are classics in their own right
Peter Jackson may have sold out to Hollywood and that may not be for the best, but his pre-Hollywood films are clever and inventive

I know about that film, and if it pops up on free channel I might give it a chance, but pay for it? Nah...
;^)
If not, take a look, it will show you what a real woman director can do.Warning: no Thelma and Louise there... only good filmmaking.
FTR, I have seen clips from this and it does hold some curiosity for me. Besides, not every film has to have the social awareness of a film like Ridley Scott's Thelma & Louise to hold my interest. ;^)
Nobody is going to argue on this.
Did she really did go all way till the end?
I was force to stay after the end of the first part.
But I will NEVER forgive my son in law*. Never.* Even if he said " shit " after the fourth never ending end.
I don't think she stayed up for the whole torture, no way, she is too smart for that, but she wanted to see what was all that noise about, and she tried to keep open mind.
You have said it! He said it, why ô why did I not found the right word..TORTURE!!!! That is the right AND only word!
;^)
Sad.Regards
BTW, as sarcasm goes, my puchline was funnier; nice try though.
Too bad we are not in the same place...It would be much fun!
