Just got the DVD via Blockbuster's $12.99 trade-in deal. The premise is an interesting one but poorly executed IMO. Still like Kate Beckingsale, though. Can anyone explain to me why Lucian, after injecting himself with the "super" blood, didn't transform into some superman and NOT die from the silver shots?
Follow Ups:
I'm with you: interesting premise with great potential, poorly executed from nearly every conceivable angle. Kate could've done herself a big favor and not signed on to this wreck of a flick, but I still love her nonetheless.
it's a freakin' movie about vampires and werewolves and nothwithstanding IWAV and the BLADE series, it had a pretty sophisticated and deep story arc. The sequel is gonna be a knock down, drag out flick if they handle it properly. Lots of potential. And Kate was hot enough in it for most red blooded males.
Anyhow, to each her own.
The film definitely ended with many loose ends for a sequel.I mean, for $12.99 DVD I enjoyed it enough. I just lament how the film did not reach anywhere its potential. A thousand-year war between vampires and werewolves and that was all there is to say about it?!
In the sequel, Kate better have some new arsenals other than the 2-pistols in two hands. Some more extensive "Matrix"-style action sequences need to be incorporated, not to mention a bit more 3-D character development for everyone involved. Then, it could be a great movie, not merely "entertaining."
