In Moscow they will be running a retrospective on Serge Gainsbough, including showing four of his films.Included are: Je t`aime, moi non plus, Equateur, Je vous aime and Charlotte for Ever.
Why is it that here, in the most free country on Earth, we have to eat shit like LOTR, while the rest of the world can simply go and see something interesting?
Follow Ups:
Well Serge Gainsbourg was...Russian...I mean he was french but his father was Russian, a painter and sculptor if I remember... But Serge´s films were...how should I say ..very 70´s...Charlotte did make a big scandale in France as in this one ( good song ) he flirted dangerously with incest ( Charlotte was his daughter )
Don´t worry the shit is going to be very soon in every little hole in earth´s face.
It is like a big equaliser....I don´t fly anymore....But if you want, a friend and I plan to make next year a two weeks trip to Scotland...with a car...That would be fun!
His parents were from Odessa, Ukraine.Equilizer... yes, but not all is lost yet.
I was pleased to see quite a few negative comments on the LOTR on imdb - so apparently there are many of us out there.
Actually it seems like perhaps 30% of comments there were negative... some VERY negative.
Now... I will dream od Scotland.
The most negatives where for the never endings end, I was not far away with the 99% positives reviews...from reviewers.
But where are the Sica´s the Bergman´s the Lang´s the Murnau´s the Hitch´s ( the only one were we seems to disagree..) the Renoir´s, the Fellini´s, and so on...
So for music, where aree the Schubert´s..the...
But I am lamenting, and in truth I am more angry than passive....My friend is a nice guy ( upper city laywer in Munich ) and if your dreams come true..we have not took any decision as for the date...so every thing is open!
Think of open fire..Wiskey...on free roads....old castles.....Long conversations...bad food....
Actually, reading the imdb comments you will always find enough people who agree with you to make you warm.Perhaps we, the opressed minority, are more vocal? That is why I never read the reviewers.
Schubert? I am sure Britney outsells that lame sucker too... so according to AuPh's scale of values he is inferior too.
Scotland... I mentioned it to Anya and she said in her sweet voice: "Of course, honey, you should go! Such a nice coincidence - I was just making plans to drive with Bernardo from Spain to Montenegro!"
I wonder if Bernardo knows already what he's gotten into!
She is very means with you, but I know this old song...For too long.
Blackmail.
We will take Bernardo with us! AND we will let her go to Montenegro with...Guess....with..Audiophilander.....
...LOTR noise track! In the meantime.... I am dry... with nothing to watch.
And I have to warn tin - that I Vitelloni tape I was talking about is in Italian with no subs!
Then maybe I shouldn't warn him, so I could get the other one!
a bellyfull of good pasta and a nice Barolo. But, alas, I don't buy videos. Fact is, I don't even buy very many cds anymore, preferring to avail myself of the enormous catalogue at the local library (I have access to two separate municipalities' collections because of a territorial dispute).
So, with a clear conscience.---go for it. I promise to reimburse you if you do not like it. There, an ironclad guarantee, you cannot lose...
Well maybe an film based on " Shakespeare " ? One from Sir Olivier..Or Branaght´s one....
Have you see " Sullivands Travel " ? ( Veronika under the shower...nice ..)
Or take an old screwball of the 40´s.
Or, hear Schubert lieder....Fremde bin ich gekommen....Fremde bin ich gegangen..or somthing like this..Wunderlich..
Petitbon..Still have not my amp back! So only films....
in "Sullivan's Travels" has to be the most miscast guy (Mcrea was even too wooden for Westerns, for godsake). Makes me feel better to see a ridiculous leading man successfully court a babe...makes my fantasy all the more believable (yes, je suis un realiste!).
Mcrea is half that bad. I won´t discuss his beeing wooden, but I still like him in " Sullivan´s " and even better in " Foreign Correspondant ".
--In the meantime.... I am dry... with nothing to watch.I assume you're not intending to see the stuff I sent you.
Just as well..
How long you think I could keep the goodies unconsumed? Like the proverbial Russian alcoholic with a bottle.BTW - thanks for reminding me, you need one of them back in a hurry - right?
The conversation I have seen before, nice film, even if a bit dated - those plastic raincoats!
No rush.
How did you like the Mosquito Coast?
I thought it was very well done and Ford was exceptionally fitting for his part.Just watched The Frisco Kid w/Ford and Wilder.
What a wonderful feel-good movie! Clever too. I'd forgotten about it.
We will watch a movie a day, if there's something available. Remember - our "kid" is pushing 30, so no diper duties for us - better tin than me!***How did you like the Mosquito Coast?
I was afraid you would ask. No, we didn't like it. And we gave it its fighting chance - I told Anya that was Dmitry's special, so we watched it in the afternoon, on large screen.
No, it didn't go down well at all... sorry. I just can't stand Ford - he always has that moronic expression.
I kinda thought it wouldn't sit well w/you two. But giving it a fighting chance is enough satisfaction for me.
Yes, It was really not good, a departure from his usal kaka is still not good enough for a good film.
I just had a few weeks ago a second go to it.
Everything looked wrong.
It was a pseudo something.
--Yes, It was really not good, a departure from his usal kaka is still not good enough for a good film. Here I am, being non-judgmental and open.
And you put all the efforts na smarku.
