Doesn't matter if it was already done.I am still secretly hoping to make "The Wanderer" one day. Naturally it'll be titled "Le Grand Meaulnes" to observe the etiquette of the Film Asylum.
Follow Ups:
Since it's a pentology (5 books) it would have to be done like the LOTR trilogy (which I am a big fan of) to be done right. I understand there were plans to have made some animated films based on this sci-fi classic back in the late 90s but those plans seem to have evaporated.Arthur C. Clarke's wonderful "Rendevous With Rama" would make a great film. Best if Clarke or Gentry Lee could write the script and some deep pockets like James Cameron or Spielberg could produce it.
Story deals with manipulation of the weather, wizardry and jinn. The novel also has a strong assertive female central character which would play well to contemporary audiences; this could be a blockbuster. If there's anything important I've forgotten I'm sure someone will remind me. :o)
...Alfred Bester's Tiger,Tiger (aka The Stars My Destination) from 1956. This book (which posits "jaunting" as the technology of the future) set the scene for New Wave cinema and cyberpunk's William Gibson. And as it focuses on one central character, Gully Foyle, it's already cinematic.Whatever, the first chapter is one terrific read.

PS If one is interested in CGI, then David Lindsay's great, virtually unknown Voyage to Arcturus might be attempted.
Thereīs a lot of good stuff in it, without any need for Special Effects..., and actors could be allowed to play. But it wonīt happen: no mass appeal.

Hi,
Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy would be a hoot as a movie. Beggars in Spain would be difficult, but it's something I'd at least think about. There is a book in the Alien series (same Alien as in the movies of the same name) where Aliens get to Earth and breed by the million. You might say it's not one of humanity's better monents.
The War World series, done right, would be terrific. But it would be very hard to pull off. The bad guys were originally human, but have been breed and genetically engineered to the point where they are almost a new species. They are much, MUCH faster and stronger than humans. Not sure how a a war of attrition spanning generations would play. Riverworld is an artifical 'planet that is shaped like a car tire about a million miles around. It spins, creating 'gravity' for people inside the tire. There is another one about a ship that is several miles long, was found by humans, carries some really nasty secrets that do not show up for the first thousand years. There are amny good stories in scifi, what is missing is good production companies capable of doing them justice when they bring them to the screen. Oh yes, I wouldn't want to forget the Mars trilogy...Red Mars/Green Mars/Blue Mars. In that series we finally start terraforming Mars, and turning into a place humans can live in and thrive.

Steppenwolf or Siddhartha or any other book written by Hesse. Actually I think somebody did produce Siddhartha as a film, but it has disappeared.
Barely remember it--it was released in the roaring 70's. Not a good decade for me to have a lot of memories . . .

Keanu Reeves as the holy man (Dude...I feel so cooooooool!)
A grateful world has not complained that the film has disappeared...

Balking at none of the violence. NC-17 rating assured. One of the most horrific novels ever written.

I never noticed that before. Bring that picture back, Dmitry!
That's why I got rid of it. It looks even weirder than I was used to.
Like a bad sci-fi make-up..
I would like to do Jack Finney's classic time travel/romance/mystery/
travelogue from 1970 called "Time and Again".
Always dream an impossible dream.
Imagine... someone is scrubbing that big vessel... AuPh is leaning over giving the directions... and you... ah, never mind!I would play that guy in the female monastery role, if Dmitry hasn't claimed it yet.
AuPh = Pasolini ?
So NO danger for Us...So he will be the director....
Surely we do not wish that kind of an end on our dear friend here.I mean - loving LOTR IS a crime, but hardly a capital one.
NO, for heavenīs sake...
It was meant that Pao was..Homosexual and so far there was no danger that he will get the dirls on the set!
That was it....
May I suggest a title song?
So it is ok, now we have the title song we need the main actor the one that transform himself in ...
I have an idea.....
Ask Victor he will may have the same...
Provided I am also playing at least three roles - who could tell anyway, I'll keep my visor down.Things I would do for a chance to swing that two-handed sword and crash it on... did you say I could hire AuPh to play Brian?
I don't think it has been Hollywooded yet.
a non wide screen version in 1954 released about the same time as "Prince Valient".
the title it's about a Soviet hustler.
