Juha is this film called.
In every possible way a film that reminds me of the " silent " period. The story so previsible like one can be. And all that voluntary made.
But it is more fascinating as one would think.
The actors are so fine, it is a pleasure to look their classy acts.
The music is so lively, that it speaks...
The lightning ( like in " The Man without past " is superb, and for a video fan araise the question, why can not ALL the films made in " kaka " have this same quality?
Juha is an exercise.
But what a film.
I am fond of it.
Follow Ups:
First I need to watch the Man without a Past... hopefully tonight, as there is nothing on TV tonight anyways - just the primaries.
A certain atmosphere has this Mr. Kaurismäki, it is a sign without any doubt that he is a great director, with a definitive Finnish touch.
He reminds me of a kind of Bergman, not having his intellectuality nor his profundness, a Nordic touch I would say.
I have great hope that we will have more beautiful films from him to come.
The only other Finnish film besides the WInter War that I recall was a spoof called Hit First, Freddy! and it was amuzing. With the Kaurismaki brothers representing I believe something like 50% of the Finnish movie industry output, they are obviously setting the tone, so it will be interesting to get the feel for it.
They are very " rural " and look like some kind of refined farmers.
I will watch them closely.
