I love King Kong, also consider it a masterpiece, own it on laserdisc, am anxiously awaiting a good DVD, and have probably seen it over 100 times. But one must admit that it IS implausable, impossible, and ridiculous. After a fully intact 35 MM print was found in Switzerland in 1988(intact except for the notorious spider sequence) Image was able to better Criterion's LD except that they used the CAV side for the truly horrible sequel, a bit of issuing logic (?) that escapes me.
Follow Ups:
A materpiece it is. On that we can agree, but not on the rest! Why ō why do you have to add " implausable.." ect.. It is just like a fantasy of Andersen or the Brüder Grimm, or..or..Nobody is gonna be fooled that it maybe a true story..Or where you? Did you see this picture as a kid? Did you believe in what you saw? That may explain...
Beware of remakes!
I am waiting for a more definitive copy, having sold my LD.
Have you seen " The most dangerous Game? " Not so good and definitively a " B+ "production it neverless vaporise a similar atmosphere as " Kong. "
Yes, I own this one as well as "The Lost World" (the original, not the horrid Speielberg Jurassic sequel). Both are good, but nowhere near as good as Kong.
I remembe..r after Sir Conan Doyle, is it not? Long time ago!
