Yes one should always gives a hand. But I do not think that he can do better, his range is just to short, his mimic is just to limited.
I saw him with my son in his latest film " Love Actually* " and in it all his past demons just reappeared.
But I still love him. Even if he got seriously on my nerves.

Not a good film, but one that is made for the maid, who dream to marry prince charming...I enjoy part of it. I will buy the DVD.
