Interesting movie that moved well and kept me somewhat interested. The survival scenes and the interesting people he met on the way were entertaining. The movie has a fresh visual because of the scenery and the documentary realism. The supporting actress was the true highlight and added much needed humor. The relationship with her and her father was the only chemistry between any two in the movie. The beautiful widowed lady in the woods with the sick baby should have played lead. It had its points that made me think a Left Wing progressive was relaying and underlying message. The unrealistic overly sexual scenes cheapened the movie. A great movie for a Feminist who hates White Christian males but the gore might be a little much (unless your Goth). Not too bad. The rooster did some superb acting!

I thought Cold Mountian added up to much less than the sun of its carefully crafted parts (much less).Feminism and/or gore had nothing to do with its failure or my opinion of it. (Read the book.) Kidman's performance was only the first of my issues with this film - there are many others.
Zellweger's performance was a caricature, but at least it gave CM a much needed jolt of energy.
Where did you think the rooster's acting really shone - on the porch or in the pot?
Master & Commander was far superior as a thinking person's epic.
