Mike, you are so right. What's so awsome about these absolute masters of the art of physical comedy is that you can see them over and over and over without diminishing the impact one bit, in fact, you begin to earn interest on your investment. Two of my favorite bits: Stan and Ollie have a small sailboat with an enclosed cabin, that they are fixing-up in the backyard. Now, you know the gag with boats is all about the water--only there's no water anywhere to be seen. I can't do justice to how funny this is--it is by far the best they've ever done. The whole reel can't be more than 10 or 15 minuites. Piss your pants funny.
My other favorite is W.C. Fields at the pool table, about to do a "break". This is the best "shaggy dog" gag ever done anywhere ever. It is absolutely the pinicle of physical comedy, timing, and the art of the story. He was a master without peer.
I hope all these gags get saved. I enjoyed Tom Hanks in the "Money Pit", but he was completely passive--it made me long for the days of the truely great physical comics. Gone forever.
