I read the thread below about Asian sellers on Ebay who don't deliver the goods. Thanks for the warning. I don't understand how you get ripped off through paypay. If the item doesn't arrive, can't you just call the credit card company and refuse to pay that charge? But what about other web sites--I assume judge each one on a case by case basis? Two come to mind:
1) www.play-asia.com: anyone ordered from here? As long as one get DVDs that play in any region?
2) www.dvdbrazil.com: again, has anyone had experience with this site?Any recommendations you have for reliable sites overseas would be appreciated.
Thanking you advance for your help.
Follow Ups:
There are alot of online stores that sell imported DVDs and VCDs.
The two I use are:
www.aznfilms.com
and
www.hkflix.com
Both have good service. The former has a slightly better selection, and is a bit more up to date. The later is a pinch cheaper, and sells better all region DVD players(if you need one).
I haven't tried too many others, so I stick with these two.
Mine is set up in such a way that most funds come from my bank account, not credit card, and only if there is not enough will the card cover it.
townsend, if you're looking for asian dvds, i'd suggest buying from a u.s. company like pokerindustries.com instead of using ebay. price difference is often not that much different, you can use a credit card directly, and you save on shipping buying domestically instead of from a (potentially unreliable) foreign seller.new york city's chinatown has a bunch of stores that sell hong kong dvds as well; check out the chinatown in your city as well.

you charge your card to put money in your paypal account. giving the money from that account to the seller is a separate transaction. it's not the same as the seller charging your chard.
"HEY" - BIG A
of sending your payment and have still not received the item; (or have other issues) after 30 days you're toast tho'
Just had this happen, by coincidence, with an HK based Ebayer who was PAYPAL'd for an Ebay item (they had lots of positive feedbacks, no less)
PAYPAL promptly investigated when this seller stopped replying to my emails and refunded me in full in about 10 days of me making the claim
What was scary tho'; I left a negative feedback for what was clearly little better than fraud; outlining the problem and got a whole bunch of emails from Ebayers saying "He did this to you too?" who had been similarly scammed buy this Seller but had done NOTHING about it...
I will make the comment that I have done 100's of trades on Ebay and this type of thing can just as easilly happen "in the good ole USA" as anywhere else
