Thre is a scene like that in George Lucas' "American Graffiti" (1972) but it takes place inside a moving car. Prior to the car moving, however, one of the protagonists is assailed by a local gang for sitting on one of the buddys' car.

The current DVD (not the first) is very well done. Sound design wizard Walter Murch ( he did the film) had a hand and Lucas himself altered the sky in the opening sequence to reflect more of a sunset to set the stage for the rest of the evening.IMHO this film has aged exteremely well and you don't necessarily have to have grown up in that era to appreciate it.
