Picked up the DVD of this a few days ago and just finished viewing it last night. Wow! What a great movie - I was totally engaged for the entire thing. I don't think I've seen this one since I saw it in the theater. Or maybe I'm just enjoying one of the fringe benefits of aging - complete memory loss of events from years gone by :-)What a great cast in GGGR: Al Pacino, Jack Lemon, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacy, Ed Harris etc. It was nice to see Pacino before he started doing that strange monotone/yelling thing that he does in all his current roles. (What is the deal with that anyway? Has he lost his hearing or something? I find it to be really annoying.) Anyway I thought that GGGR had some great acting, a great plot and terrific timing. Even though many of the scenes were without a lot of physical action, I didn't find the movie to slow down or drag at all.
Follow Ups:
I wish there were more movies of this quality, Great script(originally a B.W, play of course)and terrific ensemble acting. I want more.
Another fine performance also by the late and great Jack Lemon.
He was great. His best work seems to revolve around being bad.
He has honed this aspect to a fare thee well in the recent "The Cooler".
