I wouldn't put The Bitter Moon anywhere near the Knife... I thought it was one of the worst, cheapest films in years.

Knife is really great. Once Polanski left Poland his movies started to suck. The Pianist for example is a disaster. Bitter Moon is an exercise in dark humor. A playful and yet masochistic movie.N
