Drop your American small-town arrogance, AuPh - this forum is supposed to be the meeting place for people from all over the world, not JUST from the US.Let me remind you, that the US represents only about 5% of the world population. Great as it is, it simply can't be the best in ALL areas, and its strenght has always been in recognizing this - somehting you are steadfastedly refusing to do.
While the US has probably the highest movie output in the world, its share of great films is probably on the order of 20% or so...
Given that, it makes all the sense to a movie lover to step outside his small town and see that best does the world have to offer - amazingly it is quite eazy to do these days, so enjoy!

;^)Of course your intent is to obscure the real point which has nothing to do with approval or disapproval of foreign cinema, but rather the incessant hammering of American popular cinema. No offense, but you guys remind me of a couple of tantrum throwing children who get upset because they can't get enough kids interested in their favorite toys to make it competitive. So, what do you do? You talk among yourselves and run down everyone else's favorite "toys" in post after post while heaping praise on the "toys" you find more interesting than the popular ones.
"Drop your American small-town arrogance, AuPh - this forum is supposed to be the meeting place for people from all over the world, not JUST from the US."Are you seriously asking someone to drop their brand of arogance? What about your anti-Hollywood arogance? That is OK I guess? Iknow I know. Your biases are simply right so they are OK but his are simply wrong so they must be dropped.
"Let me remind you, that the US represents only about 5% of the world population. We are not the best at everything, China has us beat in ping pong, New Zealand (and Australia for that matter since you have trouble telling them apart) have us beat in Rugby, Belgium kills us in quality chocolate. The list goes on and on.

India kills us on movie output.
"Given that, it makes all the sense to a movie lover to step outside his small town and see that best does the world have to offer - amazingly it is quite eazy to do these days, so enjoy!"I agree whole heartedly with this.
The Indians has by far the greatest output....But then is Hollywood golden...
