I don't know if you missed mine and Anya's posts on LOTR, but given what I know and have seen about LOTR I do not see any need to stay away from the discussion. You might feel twenty minutes with that masterpiece is not enough to get the gist of its qualities, but I strongly disagree with that.In fact, the twenty minutes of suffering did not produce any observations that just reading about it, watching the clips, etc. had created. So I do not see the kaka label as anything less than well deserved here.
Ivan Shevtsov... I am pretty sure - willing to bet $100 on it - that it I just let you read a few paragraphs from that book, you would immediately declared it kaka.
And you would be right.
Why am I giving you this benefit and you are denying me the same? I dunno, but it makes little sense to me.
Follow Ups:
Because it's not about LOTR...and not about Shevtsov.I gave my opinion of the way I see this forum, its potential to be both educational and fun for participants [which number has visibly dwindled] and the possibility of it ending up as something far less interesting.
This concerns all of us who still come here.
LOTR because that is the only case where I recall any accusation of expressing opinion without watching it. I thought you made a very specific statement. Shevtsov because I don't think I got a straight answer from you on that one.But enough of that.
Forum... a film forum will become better when people will start talking about films, not attacking each others.
Attacking ALL films is fine, attacking Hollywood should be fine. Attacking movie personalities should be fine. But not attacking a person whose opinion you find contrary to yours.
