I rented Romance over the weekend, and it had none of the explicit sex that the reviewers kept commenting on. The previews were more explicit! Although the box said nothing about being an edited version, does anyone know if there is one around? So either there are edited and unedited versions with no notation on the box, or the reviewers ideas of explicit sex are different from mine. There was barely any nudity!
Please advise. By the way, the movie is absolutely awful-- boring and silly.
Can't answer your question about Romance, but I will observe that the explicitness of some films is often exaggerated. When I taught, I had a student tell me that Boogie Nights was full of nudity. Naturally, I saw it at the first opportunity. Really, though, there's not that much nudity -- not compared to, say, Showgirls or Caligula. On a different note, does anyone know how or why the scene was dropped from the video release of The Rock in which the Nicholas Cage character receives a Beatles LP in the mail? The video features the standard disclaimer: "This movie has been formatted to fit your screen." Doesn't say anything about having been content-edited.
