In Reply to: Did I just see a heavily edited version of Romance? posted by jackrandom on March 30, 2000 at 04:55:38:
Can't answer your question about Romance, but I will observe that the explicitness of some films is often exaggerated. When I taught, I had a student tell me that Boogie Nights was full of nudity. Naturally, I saw it at the first opportunity. Really, though, there's not that much nudity -- not compared to, say, Showgirls or Caligula. On a different note, does anyone know how or why the scene was dropped from the video release of The Rock in which the Nicholas Cage character receives a Beatles LP in the mail? The video features the standard disclaimer: "This movie has been formatted to fit your screen." Doesn't say anything about having been content-edited.
