In Reply to: What do you think of Dead Ringers posted by Victor Khomenko on March 20, 2004 at 17:28:15:
Jeremy Irons in the performance of his career (better than his von Bulow in "Reversal Of Fortune"), but basically a typical repulsive (psychologically and anatomically) horror film in David Cronenberg's tradition. I think Brian DePalma did this disturbed twins genre better in "Sisters."
Follow Ups:
Dead Ringers is like a train wreck...horrific, but you can't look away...as is much of Cronenberg's work (Scanners is still a fun watch, but Crash is truly disturbing). I agree, Irons' best work. FWIW, I seek out everything that G. Bujold has done...underated and underused in films, imo.Regards,
She was so very, very, very young! See it?
Albee,Haven't seen it, but looked it up in the Leo. maltan book...looks good!
Thanks,
At first my reaction was - no way that was his best job! - but then I started running through his filmography, first mentally, then on imdb, and you are right or at least close to it. I thought Damage and Swan were quite good too, and the Stealing Beauty, but the Ringers is right there too. What a wonderful actor!
