You are REALLY stirring the pot, and thank you for that! I think I have the tape of it, will take a look.Too bad this is the election year - my wife wants to watch news instead of movies.
Last night, when she was already asleep, I got the chance to see the Taxi Driver - another blast from the past.
It didn't age all that well, I must say... it does look quite dated.
De Niro is one of the best actors of the past decades, but even he couldn't make it fly too high. The atmosphere is there, and some good acting, but one quckily realizes it is not sufficient for the director to just have an Italian name - and Scorsese was not too young when he made it.
Follow Ups:
You know what, there were two dark spots on my mind, I never did like ( as you may knows by now ) " Kubrickīs 2001 " and " Taxi Driver " all people around me did love them, so I kept a high profile not to do...Hehe....
Anya may like " election " as some do for football...I just spoke with my brother of Montpellier over the phone, he too LOVES elections...Me? they are boring to death...But it seems there must be some...I donīt know ( do I ? ) why but they always have the flavour & scent of some foulness...
De Niro* I donīt like him anyway, his first films were ok but in the last decade or so what I see are just only parodies of himself.Generally " They are more Italians than Italians" save De Vito and the one that spoke as quick as I do, Hum....Joe Pesci....
Anya feels passionate about politics, because she's got strong beliefs. I kinda feel the same way, but for me twenty minutes a day is enough. So I am looking forward to next weekend, when next four films will be delivered. It is real shame that with that many "movies" channels most of the nights there's nothing to see. I will try to get the Napoleon. And I don't recall if you have seen My Cousin Vinny, but Joe Pesci was great in that little gem of a movie.
Yes I have seen it! A nice movie! I also like the wicked mind of De Vito in alot of small role, and a nice try in " Jack the Bear ".
As for politics you knows I have an idea of what may be right or wrong, and it depends from case to case, or better said from politician to politician, and from the will & capacity to transfer in action, and not only in bla-bla ( talk-talk ).
I have great admiration to people like F. Roosewelt and even more for Churchill or Disraeli, and the likes.
