All are Hollywood productions but they're good:
· Saving Private Ryan – first 20 minutes or so depicts very accurately the hell of war, after that sort of regular.
· Patton – even though mostly about the man the movie highlights beautifully the politics of war on both sides.
· Tora! Tora! Tora! – warning, warning very Hollywood but an accurate depiction of the events leading up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor
· Memphis Belle – a bit sappy but I like it
· The Tuskegee Airmen – nobody’s getting any Academy Awards for acting in this one but it accurately shows one of the highs and at the same time one of the all time lows of American history.
· Hiroshima – IMO one of the best movies (maybe the best) about the events leading to the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
