When Trumpets Fade - A bit melodramatic, but captures the hopelessness and futility of the GI's caught in the battle of the Hurtgen Forest - green replacements thrown directly into pointless assaults against the same objectives over and over.
On a Midnight Clear - Battle of the Bulge drama.
