Due to differents causes I was not able to see more than one third of it. But it is like the finest brandy after a good French meal ( I wish I could write..English ..), a few drops and you are in heaven.
Jeremy Irons Anthony Andrews Sir Laurence Olivier Claire Bloom Stephane Audran Sir John Gielgud....
The camera is very static and non eventive, but it fits well in the picture, typically British, with a little more than latent homosexuallity, tangle up in the Christian believe, with a prise of agnostisim, and where your faults were washed out after the holy communion, that is why, no doubt, the Catholic church was a refugium for so many of them, even the great Sir Alec Guiness took this way...This cute nice little sailors...
But I disgress!
The actors? Incroyable!!! What a class, what a presence...It take you back some how in your youth. Every role is perfect.
Fascinating to see. If you did like " Chariots of Fire " & " Death in Venice "then you will ask for more.
A monument.

Couldn't agree with you more Patrick. One of my favourite of all time. I read the book back at boarding school when I was 14, and it remains one of my favourite books as well. Waugh's talent for descriptive writing is superb.Have you seen A Handful of Dust? Another Waugh book made into a movie with Alec Guinness and James Wilby.
It has so many layers, I think you can be happy a couple of time with it.
Yes, I have seen it twice, but it has some very good moment, but on the whole I considered it a missed occasion.
