Wow. I agree with some of what you said. Still, I think this movie from the 50's was of its time, it is Hollywood. Can I see a movie like "Schindler's List" and ever be able to overlook the phoniness of most Hollywood portrayals? I guess I can, because I can see some value in "Stalag"."Seven Beauties", is that about a little guy who makes love to the German woman commandant?
***"Seven Beauties", is that about a little guy who makes love to the German woman commandant?Yes. Buy the way, that was not about some extermination camp for Jews and Gipsies. He was simply a small-time Italian crook.
I really have to see all the Wertmuller(sp?) movies. The only one I saw all the way through was "Swept Away". I liked it.The others were on Bravo, but I only caught bits and pieces. Wasn't Giannini an assassin in one of them? Gosh, ars longa, vita brevis!
Yes, she is one of the most interesting directors and I too need to do some catching up on her later movies. I just found out she was the assistant director in 8 1/2.Need to do the same with Giannini - he has been incredibly prolific. I think he made about 60 movies in the last twenty years - one great WOW. Not sure how many of them I can get here, though.
Time to make a list and head for my favorite rental store.
