The only director I would go to see would be Milos Foreman and I better be interested in it! When I was young (grduated from college in 72) I was really interested in movies. But boy has that interest wanned! The last good movies I've seen: ONE FLEW OVER THE COOKU'S NEST and AMADEUS. Maybe it's the dumbing of America! Or maybe free enterprise is working on some sort of Peter Principle:" Filmakers only rise to the level of their own incompetence." I've given up on commerical TV with all its SICKENING reality. And why is it that when I see some stupendous computer special effect, if pours over me like water over a duck's back not phasing me at all. Is it because we all know that it's MEMOREX and not real? The Republicans and Newt Gengrich have ruined Public Broadcasting in America. All the stations are now manned by volunteers. They've figured out a way to make you pay if you want entertainment. The problem is that the avaliable entertainment is in poor taste. Maybe it's the failure of the American educational system. What would the murderer's of Columbine High want to look at? GR
Follow Ups:
Surpassingly boring programming and stultifyingly PC attitudes have done the trick all by themselves.
Yes, When you consider programs lIke ANTIQUES ROADSHOW. They don't even have to write a script. Just let people know they'll be in town and mindless blivets will bring and talk about their junk. It is truly amazing what is popular among Americans. Why not a CIRCUS MAXIMUS? They could burn queers at the stake or let Lions tear them apart. Barbara Walters could MC it. Of course LIVE would have to be in the title. How's that for excitement. GR
