Preston Sturges screw ball comedy is a waste of time, a lost of money and worst totally outdated.
John Hustonīsī" The Unforgiven " is a little bit like " Moby Dick " set as a Western, in fact it is a small pearl, and I am very glad to have found it, it is so seldom!
With all his imperfection, fascinating show, and a mirror to Mr. Huston, who was back then a " real man. "
"Cluny Brown" is an orgasm to the spirit, a small one, but one.
Wonderful. Ah, Lubitsch!
Your films are " made in Heaven ".
Follow Ups:
I agree with your assessment of "Cluny Brown", but I respectfully disagree with your view of "Unfaithfully Yours." While Sturges could be spectacularly uneven, I think that this is his last really good film. Not up there with "The Lady Eve," "Hail the Conquering Hero," or (my favortie) "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek," but how many comedies are? "Unfaithfully Yours" is not bad considering he made all but one of his films in an 8-year period. Perhaps if you think "Unfaithfully Yours" is outdated you prefer the Dudley Moore remake?
Well, we donīt have the same view on this one! Dudley Moore..Can not remember, only the one with Bo....
But Cluny Brown, this one was a real pleasure even if a Lubitsch weaker one.
The first time I heard of "Cluny Brown" was in Pauline Kael's capsule review: "A girl who likes plumbing meets people who don't want to admit they have pipes."

cultural lines. Rather, you should have said you cannot appreciate Sturges. But, perhaps it's his champeoning of the underdog that upsets you so?
Hahaha...Are you the underdog?
In fact I love Preston, that why I bought this one I only knew partly from tv...But curiously you gave no comment on THIS film, and that was all about, shame on you Tin!PS: And for you to notice, I am ALWAYS on the side of the foible.

To say " right pig " to me?
In fact I am free as the wind ( or he thinks so..)
