I don't get out to movies much. Last two were LOTR and the Harvey Pekar flic. Both entertaining, not exactly the greatest.I really like film noir type stuff. I liked LA Confidential and lots of real oldies.
Follow Ups:
wonderful.I. Rosselini is in it.
Timbo in Oz
The Skyptical Mensurer and Audio Scrounger
Peace
Not film noir but films which seem to be about real people with real problems - long list. Off the top of my head and fairly recent(ie last decade or so):The War Zone
Margaret's Museum
Emporte Moi
Breaking the Waves
Blue
Central Station
Crumb(Documentary)
The Sweet Hereafter
Gods and Monsters
Monster
Monster's Ball
In the Bedroom
Jacob's LadderI'm not sure what you're really looking for because L.A. Confidential didn't really seem to be about real people - more like a noir for noir's sake though I liked it.
Maybe you want something like the Third Man. Noir doesn't seem real because noir is not life it is more a dark director's vision of life. I suppose Minority Report is sci-fi/noir given the writer - maybe even A.I. The latter I could not recommend. Gattaca was an interesting movie shot on a shoe-string budget that might fit the bill.

Get any number of European films from the fifties and sixties - most of them are about real people with real problems, sufferings, issues. Virtually no Cleopatra's there.
Hmmm. All this time I thought she was a real person.

If I got it right: Victor said that he loves film with real persons, not like Cleo, you said she was a real person. Is it so? Or did I missed something?
"If I got it right: Victor said that he loves film with real persons, not like Cleo, you said she was a real person. Is it so? Or did I missed something?"Well you didn't exactly get it right. He said..."Get any number of European films from the fifties and sixties - most of them are about real people with real problems, sufferings, issues. Virtually no Cleopatra's there." I thought it was kind of funny since Cleopatra, the person, was a real person with real problems, sufferings and issues. Now do you see the humor?
I got it right from the first. True, but still not humorous. More true than humourous.
That is not what I would call it so.
Maybe some kind of funny.
Maybe it is not my kind of humor. Or maybe not my kind of day for this.
