This one wears well after several viewings. Good cast and story. Noticed last night that Lawrence Kasdan plays Jack's shrink. Wonderful end credit song by Art Garfunkle, too. One of Helen Hunt's better roles. For Jack, there's more meat to this role than the part in "Something's Gotta Give".
Follow Ups:
The movie is watchable. Jack is probably playing himself quite well. The unlikeness of a relationship between Healen and Jack in real life is atonishing. As for the discussion about american values, I most say that I enjoy reading what everybody has to say here. I got to see a lot of movies that otherwise I would never try just by the discussions here.
There is this anti-intelectualism in the US. Anything that sounds elaborated not apparent at a first sight is consider snobbish. I don't like that attitude. There is also the other american style. This one is open to new foods, new music, celebrates the use of the intellect to transform our life relationship with art, film, music, etc. A lot of people forgets that film is for the most part art. The primary goal of the film industry is to make money not art. Look what this model has done to the american music scene. Instead of looking for new artist and styles, corporate america is looking for the next Britney Spears. That is the reason people are not buying CD's.
So if the goal of this forum is to discuss the hollywood blockbusters we are waisting our time. That is ussually done in the pages of USA Today. Why duplicating efforts?

Win the place over here.
I thoiugh Jack was playing himself in last Summer's "Something's Gotta Give" but here he plays a real character. Granted, the audience ewould never let any other actor get away with his mysogynist and homophobic barbs but I found his character in AGAIG
believeable.
Our foreign friends don't get it.
That's ok.
They can go watch some sub titled sludge that,in there little minds, makes them feel superior.
I betcha thse two are quite the life of the party.
In the rare instances they ever get invited to parties.
YECHster
It was not intended.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Next time we need to blow up the Goodyear blimp we'll call you and Viktor/Victoria.
Untill then, feel free to drone on endlessly and bore everyone to death.
YECH
Elude you completely?
I am glad your name is " everyone ".PS: By the way, if you feel frustated, how about a comment on A film?
Your Ego,
I guess it never crossed your mind that to 96% of people in the world YOU are the foreigner.
But the only thing you have in common with him is the odor you both emit.
You may now continue to spill yer bile on this forum my pretentious friend.

Somehow I feel the aroma of the small town American public school product.Zenophobes of the whole world unite!
Your comment about small town American product is very revealing of your stupid narrow minded predudice that prevails most of your posts. I feel very sorry for you sir!
Coming from the sky, depose his kaka, and take off for the dark sky...

n. strong dislike or distrust of foreigners --- I'm not surprised - seems like a good education system to warn of the impending ramblings of the likes of you.It is your anti-Americanism that has been made abundantly clear - oh and I'm not American BTW and it's even clear to me.
Victor? And yes stupidity has no frontiers.
The irony in these posts is great! I'm not sure which one is funnier:Victor's attempt to insult YECH by suggesting he was educated in small town America's public school system...or
Patrick's statement that stupidity has no frontiers.
....... Nothing better than a little self-effacing humor.
It is soooo self-effacing that it vanishe from itself.
What about the agressive post?
Do you like them?
Wonder if you could comment on them.....
And to top that a very agressive one.
I agree with YECH 100%.
I am also sure we have more in common than either of us would admit to.I had no intentions of enjoying this movie.
A boring, rainy Sat. afternoon led me to watch the first few minutes.
I ended up glued to the TV for the entire movie. How bout these two characters that seem to dominate this site??
I call them the Sominex Twins.
I am not impressed with anything they say.
Later space cadet.

I disliked the film on first view - second time I enjoyed it. I'm not sure it deserved any awards or a nominaion but it was a light enjoyable movie and if you like Nicholson then this is about As Good as it Gets. Oddly there are people who own cute little dogs and sick children in the world. Maybe not in russia where the little dogs freeze to death and the sick are probably shot. (Umm and this is a snyde joke if some can't tell).
In both films he has the same mimic....It is tiring. But still enjoyable, but a third time?
Old chiche - putting dogs and cute little children on screen is not fair game... and in this one Jack lost big time to the little creature.
The best scene was when the little cutie make the travel to the waste...I am so cruel with little doggies....
I did like it, as you know, save the last third a bit too long.
I would not know now well it wears - for the simple reason I would not watch it again. I started several times - it can often be seen on cable - but except for the little doggy nothing there kept me awake.Sorry... a horrible movie... I think.
