Sorry I didn't respond to orejones extremely funny suggestions for a Jackson Iliad. Connery would be a great Odysseus but he's too old. Schwartzenegger should of course reprise his role as the one eyed governor of California: eye should be put out (hightlight of the film, swelling, triumphal music, THERE IS JUSTICE). Viggo don't belong anywheres that I can see. For Helen try Mrs. Michael Douglas until you can think of someone better. Who you want is Cathrine Deneuve but, alas, she's too old. Also, Peter Jackson is the wrong director, as you intended. I'd go for Peter Weir, maybe. Ridley Scott would hit too hard on the action. Fact is, I can't think of anybody around who could touch it except old Kubrick. Now THAT woulda been a trip!
Follow Ups:
that superb thespian, Troy Donahue? Now THAT was an actor!
He could have played Helen in drag...
