A successful drama must have, well, some dramatic urgency. Continued ruminations on "the one that got away" just doesn't feed the bulldog (he couldn't seriously have thought that fox would be attracted to his egoistical, intellectually dry self?).
A highlight: the cameo of Max Von Sydow at the gas station. A needed interlude---he lit up the screen the moment he entered.

One of the best ever. But ther are very few things in life that you can not discuss. That is one of them. It is too monumental not to like, not to make you reverence for his craft and beauty.
