hi,
i vote for Event Horizon, if you have not seen it, DON'T!!
Well, one sci-fi movie that would be classified as the "Worst sci-fi movie you've never seen (and don't ever want to)" is the 1988 movie R.O.T.O.R..This is more or less your typical Robot-replacing-cop movie that goes amok (the robot, that is). You can figure out the storyline from there (gunfights, explosions, dead people, pseudo-porno, etc., etc., etc.)
nt
mock me all you want, I love that flick minus the glarp (or whatever they called it)
I am tempted to rent 'Eve of Destruction'; it sounds like it might be campy.
.
"Eve" was hilarious
You are right, it was pretty funny. Love the briefing scene at the beginning. Gregory Hines seems to be thinking, "I should be dancing."
8^D
but the most disappointing for me personally was Alien III (or
whatever its real name might have been). A total waste of time,
money, and talent, particularly in light of the high quality of
Alien and Aliens.Mike
--Battlefield Earth: John Travolta AND L.Ron Hubbard !!! BWAHAHAHA!!Cheers, Bill.
.
...my ancestors on both sides left to avoid conscription (Der Draft). They only forgive you in Germany if you're rich and famous .
Besides, Scientology's going great guns there, too.
Cheers?, Bill.
Travolta was in Denver recently to attend some dinky local sci-fi
convention. One wonders why a "star" of Travolta's stature would
bother, unless he had been told by his handlers (i.e., scientology
hierarchy) to come to plug this goofy movie.Mike
Bill, I think you've nailed it! But Armageddon, Lost in Space, and Starship Troopers coulda been contenders...
. . . they both express some weird a$$ mythologies. It's actually frightening. He IS a swethog afterall.
Sphere, Event Horizon, Blade, Phantom Menace, Deep Impact, Judge Dred, Contact, 5th Element, Highlander 2, Species 2, End Of Days, Spawn, Batman & Robin, ... I'm sure there are others but the ultimate lemon to wit there's no aide?Spawn
Sphere just blew. You wait throughout the whole movie for a great ending, but get squat. The movie teases you, then you start asking yourself questions, then all of a sudden BAM the movie ends. I hate this! The Abyss and Contact are also guilty. My vote would have to be Contact for worst Sci-Fi.
OK, I feel better now....
My pick for "Worst Date Film" of 1998, handily beating out "Saving Private Ryan". Reason? If you're a war veteran and you take your date to see "SPR", she'll feel really sympathetic toward you and you stand a good chance of getting laid later. But "Species II" was an icky, repulsive, disgusting mess that screams "sex is a fatal exercise". So, like the breakfast cereal, you ain't gettin' "Nut'n, Honey"!
Pap for morons. Hollywood exhibiting their (probably warranted) low opinion of the viewing public. Stuff _roaring_ through vacuum.
Please! Might have been better with a plot above the comic book level, but I doubt it.
...just in case they had to kill all the bad aliens on that asteroid.
Commonly, things of 20mm and bigger are called cannons. The largest "machine gun" that I know of is 14.5mm.I doubt this piece of trivia changes anything regarding that movie's artistic merits, though.
I don't know the designation of the GAU-8 used on the A-10. We just call it the GAU-8, when we were asked why it failed a test as a field gun. It's times like those I'd like to slap someone, but we have to go through the motions to prove the obvious.
more rounds = more heat
less wind = less coolingwhy did the gun melt? hmmm... D'uh, I donnano
I know about as much about guns as I do about French interiors.Q: What was the "machine gun" that Schwarzenegger used to disable all the police cars in "Terminator 2" (did someone say "minigun"?). Also, was this the same type of gun that future Gov. Ventura carried in "Predator"?
