Gotta agree, Rico, a fun and inspiring movie...sorta like "Hoosiers on ice"...Kurt Russell did an outstanding job, imo, much like Hackman in the basketball movie. When I "pre-cast" a movie in my head (from a book, etc), I never think of Kurt Russell...imo, this guy has been delivering fine performances for years, but for some reason, he doesn't seem to have the cache of some other big-time box-office stars...and he can act circles around most them.
This could be the result of Kurt's having been around since he was a child actor (he played the kid with Elvis in It Happened at the World's Fair...and several similarly silly Disney pics of the 60's)...after I post this, I'm gonna check him out at imdb.com...from memory, Kurt did a nice job as Elvis in a tv movie, he was great as Snake Bliskin in Escape from NY, and very good as Macready in the very fine remake of The Thing...like the films or not, Russell did a nice job in them, imo.
I also like his performances in two "guilty pleasure"
movies...Swing Shift and Overboard, both with his main squeeze Goldie Hawn (Kurt is a lucky man).Another thing...now in his early 50's this guy just doesn't age...must have stolen some of Dick Clark's blood or something.
Anybody else here think Kurt is underated?

Follow Ups:
good in Backdraft and a hilarious movie with Robin Williams about a relived high school football game that I can never remember the name of.
gotta put that on my to rent list!
it seems to be the signature of most of his roles. He was righteously intense in "Miracle" but that's not his stride. I guess my favorite was "Big Trouble in Little Chinatown". He has that "bad boy" appeal that devastates women and that smartass juantiness that men secretly aspire to.
.
and Kurt is funny in that, its a very silly film(!)
Goldie Hawn I like in Woody Allens Everyone Says I Love You but otherwise I "don't get it" either...
Grins
I also just picked up at the $5.99 bargain bin 'Big Trouble in Little China'
Ah, I forgot about Used Cars...I also think it is a great guilty pleasure...Kurt had the sleazy down cold.
About the only Russell film I don't like is Tango and Cash...and it's not because of Kurt. If KR is, indeed, underated, Stallone is/was overated in the extreme...no acting chops at all.
KR wasn't a bad Wyatt Earp either, another one I'd forgotten...interesting comparison to Costner's Earp...and of course, Kurt and Kevin appeared in 3000 Miles to Graceland together...so-so film, but Kurt again does a nice Elvis thing at the end.
DID YOU KNOW...Russell did the voice of Elvis in Forest Gump? "The King" seems to keep coming up in Kurt's career path.

I thought she was good in "The Sugarland Express", Speilberg's first feature film ("Duel" was originally a TV movie that was later expanded when it became a hit). I also liked her with Russell in "Swing Shift".
Not a great movie, but he was pretty good as I recall..........
