Maybe he needs the money. Michael Caine has appeared in a lot of crappola as well as have many Hollywood "B" stars.
Follow Ups:

is another guilty pleasure
M Emmett Walsh as the Sheriff and Dwight Yoakum as a truck driver (also provides part of the score)
Hoppers character is every bit as out-of-control as "Blue Velvet" Frank
Ben? - AH.

Gary Oldman is a superb actor, but I keep waiting for him to return to his Sid and Nancy and Prick Up Your Ears days. He's still the best thing about every movie he's in, even without top billing (e.g., The Contender ). And sometimes he's the only good thing (e.g., Coppola's Dracula ).
playing a psycho killer, if you can imagine that! I'll have to see it for him alone.Seems when he got off the sauce he seemed to get less offers, hmm?
...with the names of Alfonso Cuarón (director of Y tu mamá también ) and Gary Oldman. I'm not a Potter fan myself, but I'm curious to see what Cuarón does with the franchise.
Put the old Tim Burton on it? Will try to see it in a week or so after all the pre-sold kids have seen it the first time.
Great idea!
I guess he's too busy working on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory right now.
........ Those guys have each made dozens of movies - how much more $ could they need? Certainly it is their own decision to walk between artist and prostitute, but its tough to regain your image as a former once you've succumb to the latter.
