A wonderful film, with a stellar performance by all, especially M v Sydow.
Time for me to re-view "Wild Strawberries."
I think my error was in expecting perfect realism. Well, Bergman's world IS realistic---to his vision, that is. And it is consistent, which is the key, within the world he creates.

It is always worthwhile to revisit Bergman, but my wife is ever so reluctant - he affects her too much. But it's been some time, so I think I will slip a couple by her. Perhaps the WS too.The Virgin Spring is a light fare by his standards, and Max is simply superb there. But Persona.... well, this is one of my all-time favorites.
I always say that it contains easily the most sexually arousing scene - all done through words, proving that what women will tell you about their ears is likely to be true.
For the Bergman on the darker side, one should see Through the Glass Darkley and Torment.
