Terminal has been likened to "ET" with more than a few commonalities. On interview this morning in which he discussed having a stack of scripts.Terminal caught him up as perfect vehicle for Mr. Hanks. The interviewer poses the ? ,was it meant to be like ET.Mr.Spielbergs face went tilt a split second and he speaks of cutting a line in which Hanks character says "home...phone" in shaky english.Other paralells mentioned by interviewer were,Main character stuck long way from home in foriegn place, learns english via television. Will be interesting to see public comment upon subsiquent release and viewings.I will check back in to see what ticket buyers think.

In some ways the comparison is bang on - Terminal however isn't nearly as good as E.T. Smaltz in a kids movie is more than acceptable and endearing - in Terminal the romantic sub-plot made me want to gag. It disrupted a mostly good natured fluffy film to the point where I can't recommend Terminal.
I found it to be a WONDERFUL movie, one that leaves you smiling at the end. It is well written, cast, acted, photographed, and directed. It is funny and sad and excellent Summer fare.By the way I have what Hanks kept in the can so maybe I'm prejudiced.
