I know, it hits DVD Tuesday; but there is a store about 15 miles away that gets all movies 10 days before they are released. So far, it looks like a high school play. The acting is so overdone. Both Law and Kidman are hamming it up. And why could they not find 2 Americans to play the 2 Americans?
The battle scene i the beginning did have an exciting plot twist; but I coudl not follow anyof the close up combat. The film is too dark for me to see anything (TV maybe), but all I saw were bodies thrashing around and knives and black-red blood. I like the plot, but the acting, and my hunch is the director forced them to overact, is sophmoric. She is always lifeless, anyway.
And the scene where he sees her playing paino across a field, but the piano is closely miked, is a real clunker. Better sound mixers next time.
Follow Ups:
why is that important?
Ruben
whites used to play asians too...and hollywood doesn't differentiate among chinese, korean and japanese--to hollywood, they're all interchangable pieces. Sad.
Cetaele (aka Bob)
This was a crashing, bore waste of celluloid. Only Letterman got any use out of the movie: "If you need help--here I am."
a very pretty woman that gives himshelter, she is holding a baby. One of the most wooden performances in the history of film. She speaks like she is reading cue cards, which she probably is. Everyone is OVER THE TOP! Shakespearean Civil War drama.
