I agree with you on the last to the point that there seems to be a non-stop 'America' bashing going on of late and most of what 'we' hear comes from our own... I saw the first movie and was able to finish it, if not impressed by it... I think I remember my ex-wife liking the romantic angle
The thing I wanted to mention is that I am a big fan of James Berardinelli's site 'Reelviews'
http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/main0.html
He, like many reviewers, especially Roger Ebert, is a staunch liberal, yet I have found that I agree with his reviews personally more than anyone I have found since the 'Filthy Critic'
Mr Berardinelli liked 'The Passion' far more than say, 'Saved' though, so he seems to take a fairly neutral ground politically
He gave this movie one of his highest reviews, but I know when to avoid something, at least until it comes out on video... thanks for the reviewTim
Berardinelli is one of the best though... a guy who 'gets' Life of Brian' and whose Top 100 All-Time list has to be checked out... definitely does NOT look like a list pressured by any past reviews

By the way, I happen not to agree with his conclusions, but it's good reading.
