Get Carter (light years better than the recent remake!)are my favorites.
He's also been in some stinkers. Who can forget "The Swarm" and "Jaws - the Revenge?"
Kind of surprised no one's mentioned it. A young Sean Connery, to boot, too.

Tin,While the film itself drags along, Caine was quite good as Pvt. "Tosh" (the irony) Hearne in "Too Late the Hero".
It was made in either 1969 or 1970.
Denholm Elliott and Cliff Robertson co-star in this WW2 drama.
But my all-time favorite Caine is...Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Brando: "A Bedtime Story." 'twas hilarious.

Dirty was originally played by Niven and Brando....bad film...very bad...It had it all, but helas...
well, especially American to French.
Everyone I know thinks that film is hilarious---Brando plays on a much earlier role he did as a paraplegic, of course. Brilliant!
It has to do with translation. I saw the film twice or more it was just flawed. When you says that all the people you know do find it to their liking, I am amazed.
Tomorrow I will grab critics and let you know.
This film had it all. But never realised.

remarkable achievements, such as "The Quiet American," and "Cider House Rules?"
At his age, most actors are content to collect a paycheck for a cameo...Michael shows he has the endurance of Armstrong!
He also made a short documentary on acting which is brilliant.
Have you read his auto bio? Funny.
more civilized metro area!
And yes, I am very familiar...Oh I like that...Tchub tchub...Ah!
and hands down the worst; his role in "Little Voice"
Really? I find both definitively lost in the 60īs and or 70īs. They are fun watching for that but not for their intresque quality, for being really good films.
And I saw them both not long time ago.
and not as dated or unsalvageable as "Alfie"
While Michael Caine has been in a lot of films I wouldn't rate too many of them as great, and some like "Little Voice" and "Hannah and her Sisters" are downright lousy; these two the best of a bad lot(?)Grins

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels...I know, I know it is not great cinema...but funny! Two others that I like as well are Sleuth and Deathtrap...
The one in Mona Lisa. The character is so vile that I truly can't stand Michael in that role.Or maybe that means he was good in it?
That was indeed a great role - Mortwell. He built it up gradually but relentlessly.
