Teh Amoeba Records store at the foot of Haight Street is one of the best CD store in the US. To give you a sense of scale, the building used to be a 25 lane bowling alley. New, used, movies, vinyl. The $2 rack is much bigger than most used stores entire inventory.A block down get a slice at Escape from New York pizza. Or get Thai'd up at Kahn Toke on Geary. Killer Indian at Pakwan. Sushi at Blowfish. Pretend you are Sam Spade at eateries like Sams or John's Grill. SF has thousands of excellent cheap restaurants.
Architecture. Hmmmmmm. SFMOMA, Coit Tower, the Ferry Building, Victorian row houses everywhere. The Fairmont, The Maritime Museum, Alcatraz, Treasure island, FLW's Martin Civic Center. Go see a show at the Fillmore. SF has the world's largest IMAX screen at the Metreon complex.
Have fun.
