He certainly was one of the very best what the French Cinema has to offer.
The wonderful " Jules et Jim ", " Les 400 Coups ", " La Nuit Americaine " and so many more like " Le Dernier Metro " and one of my favourite " Les Deux Anglaises et le Continent " ( Have you seen it Victor? )Just a vulgare Brain tumor kill him. That is what I call injustice.

No, don't recall that one.
Well it is a good one, save that it display your friend J.P. Léaud....Very book like. Have a look at when you can.
It is not surprising that "Les Deux Anglaises et la Continent" (known as "Two English Girls" in England and North America) is book-like...it is based on a book by the same author of "Jules et Jim".
Released in I think 1971, it fared poorly both critically and commercially, due in part to cuts Truffaut had to make in the film to satisfy its distributor. Towards the end of his all-too-short life, Truffaut was able to restore the film. Perhaps it does move a little slow...Truffaut is giving you the opportunity to look one more second at a world that no longer exists.
Yes so it is. I would add that he took more words out of the book to make this film look even more muted. It a kind of film that nobody makes anymore.
Yes the world of robe against the world of mini skirt.
Gone.
Aznavour did a wonderful stand-in for Belmondo.
