didn't appreciate it before, note how compelling the intertwined stories are (first of all, it's fun to try and put the time puzzle together!).
Next, the quality of the performances: not just Travolta, but Roth and Thurman---and yes, Bruce---is excellent (even the college kid with the hamburger).
Outside of the directorial genius, two qualites jump out: the brilliant dialogue (the "whoppers in Amsterdam; footrub technique; post-fight taxicab dialogue); the accelerating action, most often unexpected (the scenes in the pawn shop...).
Tarantino raised the bar for gangster/action films---and elevated his to art.
Follow Ups:
I just did a search of his filmography, and of the ones I've seen....
Pulp Fiction (yes, intertwining stories, puzzles, bla bla bla; maybe a 1 star movie to me), Reservoir dogs (couldn't even watch the whole thing), Natural born killers (watched it once, never again), Jackie Brown (ditto).
I just don't "get" why his films are as popular as they are.
I would not want to watch any of his films again either... OK, OK, the dance from the Fiction and perhaps the basement scene - just once again.I have been saying all along that Tarantino is a wasted talent, the poet of garbage, and he will be soon forgotten.
Courage in the face of insurmountable evil.Diverse beings working within their racial traits and strenghts to overcome desperate odds together.
A historical and cultural understanding of each race and character in LoTR is neccessary. It's a fantasy world and needs to be understood in full context to gain everything there is to gain from the film.
Try the books starting with The Hobbit then move on to LoTR.
....who has never seen a LOTR movie. Maybe one day, but the trailers don't exactly excite me. As for Tarantino being forgotten, I think he is somewhat of a long lasting fad. Weren't Stephen King movies very popular as a whole only a few years back? Fad directors are probably no different than fad actors. No?
It might take longer than a few years, but I don't believe the anti-humanist "art" has staying power.LOTR? I forced myself to watch about twenty minutes of it.
only ten minutes.
.
The Kill Bills are his 4th.
I simply did a search in google using "Quentin Tarantino filmography" and it pulled up a list of movies including Natural Born Killers under his name. Oops.
He has directed four but has written others.
but directed by Roger Avery

been canonized by the media and unjustly...an average director at best....
are overrated? You aren't asking us to take your ranking as being necessarily higher than SCORES of critics and film appreciators, are you?
I have seen all his films, and believe, as much as is possible in print, convey WHY "Pulp Fiction" is worthy of the title "classic."
But, you really don't wish a dialogue---hey, a flip insult is exhausting enough, eh?
as I said, in my opinion the media has crowned him King and primarily on the basis of one film....please! If you look at his body of work (which is very small) it is limited in scope...He hasn't tackled various genres, yes Pulp Fiction is a good movie but it is not earth shattering...Apparently I offended you, sorry about that...I'm just not a fan of his....
