I had an opportunity to watch this one recently, and imo this isn't one of Hitchcock's best; the characters are not developed, including the protagonist, the plot is simplistic. The scene of a political meeting was funny, and some dialogue also, but overall - rather bleak and forgettable.Rushmore is a pocket classic, otoh.

Follow Ups:
Dim,I liked it the first time thanks to Bill Murray, but my opinion after seeing it again is that the film is a snoozer. It drags forever.
I would dump it from his list and add "A Nous La Libertie".
"Do the Right Thing" is okay, but I'd look for a copy of "Yojimbo," or "The Lady Vanishes" instead.

"I think this place is restricted Wang, so don't tell them you're Jewish"
too bad the ice closed back over him--he waay overshadowed Murray.
I think it's a very funny flick, but fair enough..
I'll trade you your Rushmore for my Shnooz la Liberte.
