The end is weak, I agree. The clash with the family is quite disturbing.
The director is a very manipulative creator. There is a sequel which I disliked a lot.
I'm not sure that I agree that it is almost pornographic. The sad part is that the Lior Ashkenazi only gets to kiss the first girl. I wish they had made the entire film about her.
Look for Hill 24 Doesn't Answer.

  I saw it many years ago in Haifa at a relative's home and the entire room was weeping at the end (more so because many of them fought in 1948 and lost friends).
  I thought the girl in the beginning was stunning. That is the "Tosh" look. Now, all I need to do is fine one with the "Tosh" look who will be more agreeable than wife #1.

        I will be in Tel-Aviv in three weeks (last trip to Israel before the move - only country I've had to visit 4 times in twelve months before being ready to move) and will be able to visit 3 video stores that I know stock all of the Israeli films on DVD and will get you a copy if it is out. I might load up on a few films and will get an assortment.
        I'm pretty sure that it is still only a VHS copy for sale on that site.

        Hehe 4X times sound oriental...Ok, I will wait until you told me, as I prefer DVD to VHS ( I can read the NTSC standard, but somehow in a very bad quality, the JVC is NOT the reference...)
