Inintelligible, I think the mix work best at the movie houses. Of course my Surround set up is perfectly done. And I prefer to hear with a phantom channel, and by a wide margin!
The same with me for the DTS issue. And even better with full rate.

I did read the article. I myself prefer straight stereo for music listening, unless of course the music is recorded in multi-channel
sound. I have all these matrix codecs on my pre/pro but as good as they are plain vanilla stereo stills sounds the most natural to me.
Well, actually I hear one demo for MC that was quite satisfying, but it was a seldom even. The main problem ssems to me this center channel, mostly badly mixed, and having some other problems, that make it like taken out of the context.
For certain type of music it seems to work, I have quite a few SACD 4 channel, and that can be effective.
