David Lean film on Mach one, remember Jaeger doing the show in the " Right Stuff " ? Well this one comes out from the fifties, and it is a good act, very well played from Richardson, and Anne Todd who came from Hitchcock´s " The Paradine Case " .
Typically English it is not outdated thanks to the sharp way of cuting it.
Good show.
Follow Ups:
Movie title "Breaking the sound barrier".
Is a good movie, the British however did not break the sound barrier. Chuck Yeager did.
Lean film is very good though. I don't think David Lean has ever made a bad picture.David Lean, is the undisputed master.
Yeager did it two years earlier I think.
Well I know at least one VERY bad from him ! Try Dr. Zhiwago, The Blythe Spirit or the Happy Breed, Ryan´s Daughter and Passage to India ( the last one I will have to check again)
I am reading his life in an extraordinary book right now, but beware it is thicker than the Bible, and somehow you get stick in it, like in a spider web. He was a very curious man, seeing his grand daughter for the for the first time when she reach the age 22PS: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0312145780/102-8168152-3640164?v=glance

Thicker than the bible?
Wow. I'd love to read that book.
I guess I should have stated that I have not seen all of D.leans films.....but the ones I have seen are ALL good.
Bridge On the River Kwai....my all time fav. movie.
Disagree about Passage to India. Great film!
Zhivago....Great! Love that ending shot of the water rushing through the dam portals as credits roll.
Sorry for the bad link!
