In the minority. Not to denigrate the considerable talent of Ms. Ross but Billie is truly in a class by herself and acknowledged as such by amlmost all jazz fans and critics. The movie was a travesty and did not capture anything of the pain and tragedy that was Holiday's life.
Follow Ups:
through the years...Morrison,Hendrix,Joplin,Garland and so on they had an addiction and a god-given talent that in the end was wasted on the search for self-gratification.
for the blamers and enforcers of this world.incipient priggishness is something YOU need to watch.
JIMO&E and Yes YMMV.
And life is a POV thing, after all.

Billie Holdiay is an American original. She was a creative artist that changed misic. Dianna Ross is a good performer. That's it. The poor sound quality of Billie Holdiay recordings make it harder to tell; but as you learn more about music, you'll get better at telling the real thing from
the imitators.
She is with Betty Smith the best I know.
can feel the snow, hear the rain...etc,etc....I feel the same way about Holiday...when I listen to her sing I feel NOTHING....Diana Ross an entirely different story...Different strokes....
