Can anyone translate the two lines of Japanese written in blood in the last scene? I can't exactly just show it to anyone and ask, if you know what I mean.
Follow Ups:
Just kidding. From the Internet Movie Database:The writing on Kichizo's chest, that Sada wrote using Kichizo's own blood, reads "Sada Kichi futari kiri" ("Sada and Kichi, just two of us together"). This was the actual writing seen on the real Kichizo's body when the police found his corpse on 19 May 1936.
I enjoyed this film a lot and didn't find it at all pornographic. I agree with the school of critics that lament the fact that this film stands sort of alone in that regard. On another note some of the colorful costume scenes reminded me of 'Gate of Hell'.As I mentioned before I like '301/302' which treats the opposite pole (complete aversion to sex) with a similar shock ending.
The film, I think, is weak and gratuitous in the extreme... therefore I think it wouldn't be a mistake to call it pornographic.301/302... that one is not a strong film by any stretch. It had some intriguing moments, but overall not much to remember.
Next question - the egg that she layed... was it organic? Jumbo or Large?
> > Jumbo or Large? < <A trick question. That was a medium sized egg at best. Consider the visual scale and that Japanese people have smaller than average geni...never mind, damnit!
I read a woman's essay on the significance of the egg scene. It implies that Sada placed her lover's family jewels inside of her at the end to ensure that he, his soul, and any potential offspring belonged to her. Excuse me while I pass out.
I suppose she missed all the underlining philosophies.Another trick question, if you don't mind... what was the official cause of death of old geisha?
Dunno the cause of death; it isn't a certainty that she is dead. She disappeared after 1970 according to the link below.
You might want to send an email to TAFKA Steve, as I am not sure when he will be reading this page again.A question... are you sure you like REALLY want to know? :-)
